Patty Laing has been a press agent in the D.C. metropolitan area for 30 years; specializing in live entertainment including theater, dance, music, film, arts education, special events, and individual personalities. For more than ten of those years she worked as the Education Press Representative for the Kennedy Center and National Symphony Orchestra. Most recently she worked with The Washington Chorus, the Bethesda Row Arts Festival, the Comcast Outdoor Film Festival, New Orchestra of Washington, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and the Fellowship for Performing Arts. Patty gives marketing workshops for Strathmore’s Artists’ in Residence.
Patty grew up making music; studying voice, classical guitar, piano, and banjo. Originally from Detroit, she was raised in Fairfax City where her love of choral music began at Fairfax High School under the direction of FCS’s founding music director Fred Wygal. A vocal major at George Mason University under Rilla Mervine, Patty transferred to James Madison University where she graduated from their Music Management Program. After college she was a member of the Choral Arts Society under Norman Scribner. Patty serves as the Contemporary and Children’s Choir Director at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Clifton. She homeschooled her six children for the past 20 years and taught high school courses in Shakespeare, American Literature and British Literature.
