Katie Shuford teaches Lower Division general music and directs the chorus at National Presbyterian School in Washington, DC. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Mississippi and is pursuing a Master’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Florida. In 2014, Ms. Shuford received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program research grant to study at the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary, earning a Diploma from the Institute. Ms. Shuford earned her Kodály certificate from the Kodály Institute at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is on the faculty of the Carolina Kodály Institute, where she teaches Solfège & Musicianship, Materials, Choir, and Conducting. Ms. Shuford is an active performer and sings with the professional choir of the Church of the Ascension and Saint Agnes in Washington, DC. When she is not making music, she enjoys traveling, attempting to learn the Hungarian language, and playing with her cats, Crackle and Pop.
