FCS Vocal Arts Ensemble
2023-2024 Season

The FCS Vocal Arts Ensemble enjoyed a very successful fourth season, and are excited for the 2023-2024 season. Under the direction of Michael Ehrlich, this adult chorus of 110 singers performs a variety of genres, including traditional choral literature, American folk songs and spirituals, music of different cultures, vocal jazz, and Broadway.

Light, Love & Peace

Come enjoy the sounds of the season with the Fairfax Choral Society at Capital One Hall on December 10. We are excited to appear for the second time in as many years at this superb venue in Tysons Corner. This concert will feature FCS’s adult ensembles: The Symphonic Chorus, The Vocal Arts Ensemble, The Vocal Arts Singers, as well as the Concert Choir and Mastersingers from our youth program. We very much look forward to welcoming to this concert our guest instrumental group: The Carol Ringers handbell ensemble from Saint Matthew’s Methodist Church in Fairfax. This excellent group is widely acclaimed and has performed all over the nation, including repeatedly at the White House and the State Department. Join us for an evening of music that we hope will bring “Light, Love & Peace” to all.

The Earth, The Air, The Deep: Songs of Nature and Life

The Earth, The Air, The Deep: Songs of Nature and Life” will depict nature and life in music. The Vocal Arts Ensemble and Vocal Arts Singers will embrace the elements – human beings, flora and fauna, and life’s journey, incorporating the joy, sadness, and humor that life has to offer. You will be inspired by this musical event, so please join us on March 10.

VAE on Broadway

“Broadway, Broadway, How Great You Are!” The “VAE on Broadway” performance on will present familiar Broadway tunes and the newest additions to musical theater repertoire, all highlighted in our tribute to Broadway on June 2. Be sure to “Come on along and listen to the lullaby of Broadway” with the Vocal Arts Ensemble and Vocal Arts Singers.

Along with bringing choral music to the community, the ensemble embraces the true meaning of community by seeking diversity in its make-up and in its repertoire. Additionally, the ensemble will embrace all elements of our community to foster inclusiveness, to help those in need, and to share our love of the choral art.

Auditions for the Vocal Arts Ensemble are held by appointment. Please email vaedirector@fairfaxchoralsociety.org to set up a time.
