Chorus Auditions
Auditions are scheduled in May, August/September and January, and other times by appointment.
Auditioned Choirs:
- Treble Choir, ages 9-13
- Concert Choir, ages 9-15
- Master Singers, ages 13-18
The Da Capo (ages 5-8) and Lyric (ages 7-10) Choirs require a "voice check" to place the singer in the correct musicianship class. While all are accepted, voice checks are scheduled as auditions.

Requirements for Auditions
Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Master Singers
The applicant must demonstrate the following:
- Ability to match pitch, both accompanied and unaccompanied
- Ability to sing independently without assistance from the keyboard
- Ability to demonstrate tonal memory through the repetition of melodic patterns
- Ability to demonstrate rhythmic aptitude including maintaining a steady beat and following tempo changes
- Ability to read simple melodies from a staff and from hand signs
- Ability to reflect correction and redirection when asked to do so
- Ability to demonstrate motor skills including clapping, and moving in rhythm (Accommodations will be made for any prospective member with a physical disability.)
- Ability to attend rehearsals and performances regularly
- Ability to listen, follow directions, and be a positive and productive member of the chorus
Da Capo Choir and Lyric Choir
While these ensembles are open to all, prospective members will be evaluated on general musical, vocal, and motor skills to determine musical aptitude and placement with the proper choir.
Full Year Tuition (September-June)
- Da Capo Choir - $410*
- Lyric Choir - $410*
- Treble Choir - $450*
- Concert Choir - $480*
- Master Singers - $455*
*$20 discount offered if full tuition received by June 30 of previous season.
Half-Year Tuition (January-June)
- Da Capo Choir - $205
- Lyric Choir - $205
- Treble Choir - $225
- Concert Choir - $240
- Master Singers - $227.50
Scholarship opportunities due to financial hardship are available on a case-by-case basis. Please complete a Scholarship Application and return it to the FCS office for consideration.
Uniform fee is additional.
Information About Membership
The rehearsal schedule for 2008-2009 season
will be as follows:
Monday evenings at Annandale United Methodist Church
Da Capo I - 4:45-6:15 pm
Da Capo II - 4:45-6:15 pm
Lyric - 4:45-6:15 pm
Treble - 6:15-8:15 pm
Concert - 5:30-7:45 pm
Master - 7:00-8:30 pm
Members are
expected to sing all concerts. A performance and rehearsal calendar
is provided at the beginning of each season.
Da Capo I
Instructor: TBA
Singers will learn age-appropriate vocal technique, pitch and rhythm matching
skills, and ensemble teamwork. Curriculum based on Kodaly methodology.
Da Capo II

Lyric I

From I-495, take Gallows Rd East exit (watch the Gallows Rd signs, as this road does take a turn to the left). Go approximately 2 miles and turn left at light at Columbia Pike. Take your first right into the Church parking lot and enter the glass doors by the large white columns.
