"Where words fail,

music speaks!"

The Poetry of Music

The Poetry of Music is a performance, composition, and commissioned work project that creates a shared fine arts effort between the Fairfax Choral Society and a school in the Fairfax County School system. Choral music, poetry and art are collaboratively used to express an original poem in various art forms as educators foster the creative process in students. The project culminates in the premier performance by the FCS Youth Choruses of a commissioned choral work, based on a selected original poem by a student. Visual art projects (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.) also based upon the poem are displayed in the lobby of the performance venue and students receive recognition for their efforts.
